Review of the concert Klassik trifft Tango by the Duo Aguirre-Rocco at the 25th of Febraury 2006 at the Passionskirche, Berlin

Aguirre and Rocco played together and oscillated between the classical music and the Tango. By this manner Aguirre managed to introduce a new element into the Tango as chamber music.
The Duo stayed by themselves and let the music speak for itself and this concept worked. Unintrusively invasive!
You must follow the music from Aguirre-Rocco very atently. You must get into, you must let yourself being carried away if you don't want to miss the fine nuances. If you succeed, for example at 'Himno por la memoria’, presented near the end of the program, a new musical world opens for you.[...] The concert was characterized by the use of leitmotifs and changes of rhythm, their impacts last for long time.

LUIS: We found each other through the music.[...] We used to experiment musically a lot. [...] We opened a new field and we wanted to get these classical elements a new direction in such way that we inserted clearly recognisable elements of Tango. [...] There are Tangos for listening, Tangos for dancing. Tango is a very intense and ingrained emotion you feel.

PABLO: The Duo is similar to our present program. Our music is a symbiosis from classical music and Tango [...] The intention to mix classical music with Tango is lastly the result of a quest, a quest for an proper style through composition. It's chamber music with elements of Tango, which are well notable. For me it was interesting to join the elments of rhythm, to play with them. [... Tango] is a kind of mirror for the porteño's soul.
